If I'm going to spend $50,000 to improve my career, there are probably a zillion more effective ways to use it than getting a higher degree. Why was I too stupid to think of that myself?

To the anonymous person directly above me, for goodness sake, don't take it so literally.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5601340120062330500.post-36883065486860021072011-02-22T15:35:01.212-08:002011-02-22T15:35:01.212-08:00Nobody is going to give you a $50k credit line. They'd lend you maybe $10k a year, and tuition would shockingly be around that too.

I agree that degrees are a waste of money though.

If I could do it again though I'd have gone to medical school, or been an accountant and then gone to B-School afterwards.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5601340120062330500.post-18464849318898332242011-02-15T10:06:25.725-08:002011-02-15T10:06:25.725-08:00I can say the MBA classes are more down to earth a...I can say the MBA classes are more down to earth and practical than JD classes. (I left my MBA program to pursue a JD, -stupid move) I figured that a licensed professional program would bring allow me more $ and options. wrong!!

If I could do it over again; I would take the MBA over the JD. But, I can't say in today's job market either will open any doors unless it is from a top school.

theyuppieattorney.blogspot.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5601340120062330500.post-84933507108213777462011-02-14T05:21:10.093-08:002011-02-14T05:21:10.093-08:00Excellent post! I've been thinking that everybody going to law school now would be better off going into debt $200K and spending that money on clothes, jewelry and fancy cars. In the end, you're still better off, since you can at least sell the jewelry, the car, wear the clothes, and go to bankruptcy court!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
